The next Archdeacon of St Albans will be the Reverend Jonathan Smith, the Bishop of St Albans has announced. Mr Smith, who is currently the Vicar of St John’s, Harpenden, will exchange the life of a parish priest for a role as one of the three chief aides of the bishops in the diocese, alongside the Archdeacons of Bedford and of Hertford.

Surprise Honour for Bishop, Church and City

The Rt Revd Christopher Herbert, Bishop of St Albans has been made an Honorary Citizen of Fano in The Marche, Italy. The Diocese of St Albans and the City of St Albans both have formal links with Fano for the last ten years but this is believed to be the first time that an English Bishop has been given the freedom of an Italian city.

Six elected to help choose the next Bishop of St Albans

Six local people will join the Crown Nominations Commission to find the next Bishop of St Albans. They were elected by representatives of St Albans Diocese, the Church of England in Beds, Herts, Luton and North Barnet.
